Huntingdon County’s more than 43,600 residents enjoy access to quality healthcare close to home. Penn Highlands Huntingdon, the county’s largest healthcare provider, serves as the cornerstone of medical care. Located atop Hospital Hill, this 71-bed nonprofit hospital employs over 400 people and 40 physicians. The facility offers comprehensive services including 24/7 emergency care, medical, surgical, pediatric, and intensive care units, along with advanced medical imaging, wound care, and behavioral health services.
In recent years, Penn Highlands Huntingdon has made substantial investments to enhance local healthcare, including the installation of a heart catheterization lab, a state-of-the-art 80-slice CT scanner, 3D digital mammography, expanded outpatient services, major upgrades to its emergency department, and the implementation of a new Cerner electronic medical records system. In 2025, the hospital earned PCI Accreditation for its cardiac program, recognizing its high level of care.
Complementing Penn Highlands are several other quality providers. Geisinger’s Cold Spring facility has been serving the community for many years, providing convenient access to family medicine, internal medicine, rheumatology, and women’s health. Broad Top Area Health and Wellness, a Federally Qualified Health Center, provides primary and preventive care through multiple locations across the county. Team Home Health, part of Fulton County Medical Center, offers essential in-home care including physical and occupational therapy, skilled nursing, and speech therapy.
Together, these organizations, along with many other local healthcare providers offering services such as dental, vision, podiatry, hearing, renal care, and physical therapy, ensure that Huntingdon County residents have access to a wide range of healthcare services without having to travel far from home.
