Penn State’s Shaver’s Creek Environmental Center at Stone Valley offers beautiful trails, a Raptor Center, and educational programs, while nearby Lake Perez — the county’s second-largest lake — provides excellent opportunities for picnicking, fishing, and paddleboarding.
History buffs will find plenty to enjoy as well. The East Broad Top Railroad, recently named the No. 2 Best Scenic Train Ride in America, offers a step back in time with its historic narrow-gauge trains and beautifully preserved 19th-century rail yard.
